Course Narrative
This was another great class with Dr. Pablo Oliva. I took this class in the fall of 2017. I always arrange my schedule so I can take Dr. Oliva's classes because he is such a great professor. I always learn a lot of useful and interesting information and he creates a learning environment where I feel comfortable participating even in my less than perfect Spanish. The class was taught entirely in Spanish and, therefore, my language skills improved during the semester. One of the many great aspects of Dr. Oliva's teaching techniques is the time he takes to edit and give suggestions for how we can improve our writing. This was the first class I took where I was required to regularly write essays in Spanish. I am a comfortable writer in English, but I had never done more writing in Spanish than a paragraph or two. So this was a huge jump for me. By the end of the semester I was more than comfortable with writing an essay in Spanish and that skill has obviously been beyond helpful this semester while writing my 20 page Capstone paper in Spanish! Thank you Dr. Oliva!!
